JUVENILES - Win for Anna

Anna wins gold in the All Ireland Schools Senior Discus with a throw of 47.95m, 9cm short of the Championship record set in 1978, making her 8th on the Irish all time list. Here she is above receiving the Ned & Mary O'Brien trophy.

Juvenile Training

Next Thursday 9th June will be the final training session before the summer break. All age groups are invited to Pipers green in Portrane from 6.30 to 7.30pm. There will be fun and games, so come along. Saturday middle distance training has now ended for the summer with last Saturdays session.

JUVENILE RELAY TEAMS

Parents: Is your child/teenager interested in participating in a *relay team* at the Dublin Juvenile Championships?

The relay events take place at 7pm on Wednesday 15th June and Friday 17th June at Lucan.

Entries close Wednesday 8th June and our participation is subject to

2. Athlete availability on the night

If your child/teenager (*born in 2011 or older*) would like to participate and *is available on one or both of the above dates* please DM me with their Date of Birth (and dates available) by Tuesday 7th June.

If we are able to form teams we will provide additional training ahead of the event.

JUVENILE CLUB AMBASSADOR

Calling on parents of Juvenile members:  We need a Juvenile Ambassador to take part in a celebratory parade at the 150th National Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium on Sunday 26th June.

If you are free to attend with your child between 4.30 and 5pm on Sunday 26th June, please contact our Safeguarding Officer Ali Conway at ali.conway@mac.com before Tuesday 8th June.  If we have more than one applicant there will be a draw to decide which Juvenile member will be nominated.  Athletics Ireland will give two free tickets to each club nominating an ambassador, to allow the parents/guardians of the child to attend.

Athletics Ireland will be celebrating the 150th edition of the National Track and Field Championships on the 25th & 26th of June 2022.

Every Athletics Club in Ireland is called upon to nominate a Juvenile member (or child of adult member if there are no juveniles in the club) to take part in the celebratory parade during the championships on Sunday June 26th between 4.30pm and 5pm.

It is hoped to have every club represented with their nominated juvenile wearing their respective club singlet.

All children involved in the parade will also be invited to complete a 150m run on the track to finish. All children taking part will receive a commemorative gift when leaving the track. To find out more about the 15oth National Track and Field Championships click here

Balbriggan Summerfest 5k

Last Thursday evening our members took part in a very wet and hilly Balbriggan Summerfest 5k. Anthony Sharkey was first home from the club in second place with a time of 16.54. See here for more results.

CORK CITY MARATHON - 5th JUNE 2022

And the PB's keep coming. Congrats to Fintan Counihan on a superb marathon run in Cork yesterday with a time of 2.54.34. A new PB. And a new PB for Ian Tiernan too in the half marathon of 2.04.19. See results here, A big congrats to Deborah and her friend Denis O'Gorman who walked the Cork half marathon.

WOMENS MINI MARATHON 2022

Oh the excitement and tutus. Well done to everyone involved. A great day out and definitely one for the calendar every year now that we are back to real races.

Congrats and a huge well done to Patrick McCormack who guided Niamh Trihy from Waterford, finishing the 10k in a time of 1 hours and 9 minutes. For everyone's results click here

COUCH TO 5K

GRADUATION FOR THE COUCH TO 5K IS COMING UP FAST. JUST 2 WEEKS LEFT ON JUNE 18th at the Donabate Parkrun. Sinead and Amy above completed their first 5k ever at the Balbriggan Summerfest last Thursday. And a big congrats to Rebekka McGinn completing her first 5k since fracturing her leg and according to Sinead without Rebekka's heated seats, herself and Amy would have perished. Amy went on to do a full 10k at the women's mini marathon yesterday.
