Fit for Youth (FFY) - Beginners running group for athletes age 15 and older
LSA's FFY is a youth running programme specifically aimed at TY students/teenagers aged 15 and older. It starts with an 8 week beginners running programme, working towards completing a 5k with a graduation and certificate after 8 weeks. Qualified personal trainers Kelly Ann Rawlinson, Gavin Halpin and Athletics Ireland qualified coach Maria Carr will mentor this group with expert fitness advice and motivation.
When the initial programme is over there will be an option to stay and join the main club for a small fee. Athletes can then train and compete in all athletic events including Sprints/Middle distance/Throws/ Jumps under the expert guidance of Gerry Ronan, level 4 Track and Field Coach. If your teen is more interested in Track and Field, please contact Dara on 087 6599847.
This group will be virtual during Level 5 restrictions with online training plans and zoom fitness seesions specially for teens.
When restrictions lift training days will be on Monday and Wednesday at 4:30pm and 10.30pm on Saturday mornings. For athletes who can't make training during the week they can continue to train virtually and choose to join the group on Saturdays if that suits better.
So if your teen wants to be part of a social fitness environment and need a break from studying and exams, LSA is the club for them. Become part of an ever growing community based club with a strong recreational running and competitive section.
