Thursday Training

Our Little Athletics (2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) and Juvenile (2012 +) training continues every Thursday at the all weather hockey pitches. This week had a particularly Irish feel with 'Shamrock Squats, Leprechaun leaps & coach Ben using a tin whistle instead of his usual coaching whistle!

We also had a little celebration with our very own juvenile coach Anna Gavigan being presented with flowers for representing Ireland at the European Throwing Cup in Portugal. Well Done Anna, we are all so proud of you.

Newbridge House Junior Parkrun

Another fantastic week for LSA Juveniles at the Newbridge House Junior Parkrun on Sunday. There were 19 listed LSA participants with PB performances from Kyle O'Connor, Kate Jones, Finn Phillips, Sarah Jones and Oran Murphy. We also had milestone achievements with Philip, Oliver and Éabha awarded their half marathon wristband and Nicole awarded her Marathon Wristband. Huge thanks as always to all the volunteers particularly our own Jennifer Tanner who took on the role of Race Director this week.

Track and Field Report

We had something of a reprieve this weekend after the hectic competition schedule of the last few weeks with most athletes back in the training routine for another couple of weeks.

This was not the case however, for Anna Gavigan who, fresh from her adventures in sunny Portugal was off to a rainy Sunday afternoon at the Tullamore Harriers Stadium for the annual National Spring Throws competition. The forecast was promising rain and “7 degrees, feels like 4”. Sun cream not needed today!

Against the backdrop of these difficult conditions, Anna put together a very respectable set of throws with a best of 45.99m to win the competition. Well done to Anna who continues to build on her recent good form.

Upcoming Juvenile events

Dublin Juvenile T&F events 2023

Here is an overview of the dates of upcoming Juvenile Outdoor Track and Field Competition. We will provide more information through ClubZap closer to the time. Please note that it is a condition of competition that clubs provide volunteers to help with the running of all these events. To this end we will ask parents to assist us whenever possible in order to give our athletes the opportunity to participate. <br/>

Dublin League (U10-U16) .

1. Sunday 16th April 10.30am Tallaght
2. Saturday 22nd April 10.00am Tallaght
3. Saturday 6th May 10.30am Tallaght
4. Sunday 21st May 10.00am TBC

Team Championships U9, U10, U11 - Saturday 27th May

This is for athletes to compete in pairs in up to two events in their age group: Events are Sprint, Middle distance, Long Jump and Turbo Javelin.
Team entries must be submitted and paid for in advance. This is the qualifying event for the National Children's Games in Tullamore on 1st July 2023.

Dublin T & F Championships Days 1-6.

There are limited events for U9, U10, U11). Events for U12-U19 are qualifiers for National Finals. Entries must be submitted and paid for in advance.

St. Patrick's Day - Tallaght 5k

Huge congratulations to Anthony, Yvonne and Mark who braved the miserable St. Patrick's Day weather to compete in the Tallaght 5k Dublin Championship. Anthony finished in an impressive 16:19, Yvonne in an inspiring 20.57 and Mark Kelly finished 2nd in the Male U16 category in an amazing 18:48. Well Done Anthony, Yvonne and Mark.

Donabate Parkrun

LSA was well represented at this weeks parkrun with 23 members participating. There were 3 superb PB finishes, well done to Cathal Brady, Marie O'Sullivan and Sarah Roux. It was also a milestone week for our very own Ian Tieran who ran his 50th parkrun with his coach, mentor and friend Amanda McAra. A big thankyou to Jennifer Tanner for the balloons and cupcakes and Deborah for the cake and doughnuts. Huge congratulations Ian on your 50th parkrun. Thanks to Cathal Brady who not only had a PB performance he also volunteered. Huge thanks to Pat McCormack for all the action shots.

AGM 2023 -NOTICE

Change of date to 18/04/23 Beaverstown Golf Club @ 8:00 pm

Lambay Sports & Athletics - LSA AGM will now take place in person in Beaverstown Golf Club on Tuesday 18th April 2023.

We are in the process of a full review of our Constitution to reflect the growth and different sections of the club. We also need to extend our committee to reflect this too.

We are asking members to send in any motions in writing to Jennifer Tanner, Club Secretary within the next week, if you have any.

We are also looking for the following positions which will need to be nominated and seconded at the AGM. If you have any nominations, please contact Jennifer to add to the election sheet asap. Jennifer Tanner - 087 2936509.
