Congratulations Mark Kelly- 4th U12 in Dublin Athletics Even Age Cross Country Championships at Abbotstown . Well done Kate & Éabha who also represented the club at the event and thanks to our coach Fiona and all the Dublin volunteers.

Upcoming Cross Country Event

The next Dublin Championship event is for Juvenile Uneven ages U9, U11, U13, U15 and takes place in Citywest on Sunday 6th November.

Please note we will seek expressions of interest from parents of athletes interested in participating in this event.

Please see the event on ClubZap JUVENILES

Our participation depends on us having coach and volunteer availability on the day.

LAUNCHING OUR NEW GROUP, "FIT FOR YOUTH"

Our Brand-new Fit for Youth group will start on Thursday November 10th at 7pm at the hockey pitches.

Have you got a teen aged 14 or older who has left other sports and would like to keep fit in a fun and social environment? This group is for them. The cost is €25 which covers their membership to Athletics Ireland, LSA and their insurance until the end of the year.

If they would like to be more competitive, we have a pathway for that too.

If interested, please contact our Registrar by email at lambaysportsathletics@gmail.com

ADULT SECTION

Donabate Parkrun

Another great week for LSA at the Donabate Parkrun with Dino Higgins first in an impressive 18:54! Congratualtions Dino and well done to all our members that represented LSA at this week's parkrun. Thanks to Cathal Brady and juvenile member Léa Hubert for volunteering.

Did you know...

Anyone over 12 years old can volunteer at parkrun and be given certain tasks to do on their own or with adult supervision at the event. What a fantastic way to get young people involved and to help them realise that things "don't just happen". Volunteering for parkrun builds both confidence and a sense of community. Thanks to Xavier for this information. Huge thanks to Léa volunteering and hopefully we will see lots more juveniles volunteering in the coming weeks.

Dublin 10mile Championship

On Thursday Dara presented coach Steven Rice with his Dublin 10mile Championship medal. Steven placed 3rd in his age category in this race. Coaches Shane O’Farrell and Eimear Caulfield also won age category Dublin Championship medals at this event

Coaching Courses

At the weekend. Dara Carr attended the Level 2 throws Course with Athletics Ireland Throws Coach David Sweeney at TUS Athlone. The course runs over another 2 weekends before Christmas...

...And coaches Taz, Ruth & Xavi were also in Athlone doing the first part of their Level 1 coaching course last weekend. The course concludes with a second weekend next month.

Calling All Marathon Supporters

Don't Forget a Zoom for supporters will be held this Thursday 20th at 8.30pm. Zoom link is on the LSA DCM Supporters Whatsapp group!

Dublin Athletics is looking for Feedback...

For anyone who has competed/would like to compete in Track and Field:

Dublin Athletics are asking clubs for input into their review of the Dublin Graded Meets. These are track and field meets that take place on eight Wednesdays over the summer season, usually at Tallaght AC, Morton Stadium, Irishtown or Lucan Harriers.

They are asking the following questions:

1. What do you want from the Graded meets?

2. What would encourage you to partake?

3. What discourages you from partaking?

4. Should those who have achieved a standard at a lower grade, be elevated to the next Grade up?

5. Would you prefer a Saturday afternoon/evening event, instead of Wednesdays?

6. Would you like all Wednesdays? all Saturdays? a 50:50 mix of both?

7. Would you be prepared to be an Official(s) to help run the events?

8. Have you any other suggestions?

If you have any feedback for us to pass on to Dublin Athletics please get in touch with Dara Carr, Louise Gilroy or Enda Gavigan
