League 2 Report
We had 11 Juvenile athletes competing in Cross country League 2 in Tymon Park on Sunday.
The blustery conditions made for a tough course on the exposed parkland near the National Basketball arena. The course was dry underfoot to start with, but as the rain moved in shortly after midday the conditions became trickier for the older age groups.
We were particularly pleased to have so many athletes competing for the first time for LSA: Ethan Stanley & Rían Murphy U10 and Sarah Jones U9 and Caroline Brady U10
We were very proud of everyone who competed.
Everyone improved on their League 1 races, and Mark Kelly had an excellent 3rd place finish in the U12 race.
Everyone who competed earned 10 points.
Anyone who finished in the Top 20 in their race scored bonus points.
There’s one race left in this league series: - December 11th.
All clubs are required to provide officials - Louise and Ruth helped out on the finish line, with Ruth drawing the short straw in heavy rain for the final hour of the event.
And many thanks to coaches Dara and Ruth and parents Derek Jones & Mighele Capocci for helping.
Dublin Novice Championships
The Dublin Novice Championship took place in Tymon Park after the Juvenile event. We haven’t yet had an LSA team compete in this event. Maybe next year?? Details of this year event are here
Upcoming Cross Country...
Next Sunday is a big day in the Cross-country calendar with both Juvenile and Adult races taking place in the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown. Three of our LSA Juvenile members will be competing in the morning. Why not come and support them?
Free tickets for spectators can be found through the link on the Athletics Ireland website here
A Massive Thankyou...
... to Bernie from Dublin Striders who kindly donated athletics equipment including javelins, discus, hammers, hurdles, shot putt, mats, cones and hoops. We are delighted to accept this kind donation but saddened to hear that Dublin Striders will close their club after 45 years. We wish Bernie and her family and their committee all the best with their future endeavours. I know they will stay invested in the Dublin athletics scene. Many thanks from all our members.

Ali Conway is running in aid of Orbis
Message from Ali...
"I have decided to use this opportunity to raise some much-needed funds for Orbis Ireland. Orbis believe that nobody should be blind from avoidable causes and is a charity very close to my heart, at the age of 21 I required surgery to improve my sight and in this part of the world it’s a surgery that we can get easily but residents in other countries are not as fortunate. I have been lucky enough to travel to Ethiopia twice and have seen the clinics Orbis have set up and its very humbling, an operation that costs approx. €20 is life changing for some. Orbis also provide education and teach local Doctors and nurses to perform this surgery and provide education on hygiene within local schools. I could also go on about the VERY COOL flying eye hospital, but I think Orbis themselves will explain it better here!

Deborah Mc Ardle will be powerwalking in aid of Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association

"I am powerwalking the Dublin City Marathon 2022 in memory of my friend Sharon Friel, to fundraise for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Any support is very much appreciated"

Charity of the Year
LSA Committee are embarking on a new initiative in order to streamline the clubs' charitable donations. Going forward the committee plan to nominate one charity each year for club fundraising. Of course, members continue to be more than welcome to collect for any charity they wish throughout the year, however only the club's official charity will be advertised in club publications and club social media. All suggestions for a charity each year will be considered, and any suggestions can be made to any of the committee members.
