England Throws Camps – International Throws Fest 2022

Anna Gavigan rounded off a very busy and successful 2022 Discus season by representing Ireland at the International Throws Fest 2022 in Moulton College Northampton England on 3rd and 4th September.

England Throws Camps is dedicated to excellence in Discus, Shot, Hammer and Javelin. Anna threw 44.98m during the qualifying round on day one and produced a best of 45.51m in the final to clinch the Silver medal. Gold went to Zara Obamakinwa of England with a best of 52.50 m. Zara was a finalist in the recent World Junior (U20) Championships in Columbia

Also representing Ireland was the hugely talented Hammer thrower, Nicola Tuthall, just recently returned from her fantastic 8th place finish at the World Junior (U20) Championships. Nicola was also in the medals securing Gold with a fine throw of 59.8xx.

A big ‘Thank you’ from Anna goes to her coach Gerry Ronan for all the work during the year and also to Dave Sweeney of Athletics Ireland and England Throws Camps for organising such a wonderful event.

Cross Country Training is Back....

Our Juvenile members braved the rain on Saturday to return to Cross Country Training. Huge thanks to coaches Sarah & Ruth.

Cross Country Training is open to all Juvenile members 2012 Athletes or older every Saturday 2.30pm Newbridge Demesne.

IMPORTANT CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE UPDATE...

Message from Louise Gilroy

The Juvenile Cross Country league starts this month with the first of three events taking place close by in Lusk on Sunday 18th September, starting at 11am. This is open to athletes born in 2014 (Under 9) and older.

This is a nice club event and we would encourage our juvenile athletes to give it a go. The race distances increase in Leagues 2 & 3.

Entry fee is €3, athletes wear club T shirt or singlet.

We need to know in advance who is taking part, in order to prepare the race numbers so please let your coach know at training or message Louise at 0868327467.

Introduction to Javelin Session

Well done to Juvenile members Lea & Cara on their Introductory to Javelin Session with Coach Gerry Ronan at Newbridge Park on Sunday.

Portmarnock Beach Juvenile 2k

Congratulations to Juvenile members Mark & Todd Kelly who represented the club at the Portmarnock AC Beach 2k on Thursday 1st September 2022. Mark was first across the finish line, no easy task on sand! Well done Mark & Todd.

Portmarnock Beach 5k

Congratulations also to Claire McSweeney who represented LSA at the Portmarnock AC 5k event! Running on the beach was worth it for the ice-cream at the finish line!

Donabate Parkrun

As always LSA was well represented at this weeks Parkrun with 11 members running! Huge thanks to volunteers Ali Conway and Nuala Freeman.

Irish Wheelchair Association 5k run and 2.5k Fun Run

LSA was well represented at the IWA event at St. Anne's Park on Sunday 4th September. The Atmosphere was fantastic and it was for a great cause. With a t-shirt, medal & goodie bag it is definitely one for the race calendar next year. The 2.5k Fun Run is a great option for our Juvenile members. Myself, Ann, Sean, Kate & Sarah took part in the 2.5k with Jen & Morag completing the 5k.

Kerry Way Ultra Lite

Massive Congratulations to Jonathan on completing the Kerry Way Ultra Lite on Saturday Sept 3rd! This event is held over the Kerry Way Route from Sneem to Kilarney and is a impressive 59km in length with an elevation gain of approx 1500m over mountains . Well Done Jonathan!!

Boot Camp is Back

Boot Camp with Suzanne Dunne is back This Thursday at 7pm at the All Weather Hockey Pitches. This is open to all adult club members!

Our Dublin City Marathon 2022 Runners need Support

2. Sunday 30th October 2022 - Dublin City Marathon - we're looking for a support crew. It's great craic!

4. Clontarf half - 26th November 2022. If you're not running in it, consider doing the St Anne's parkrun and supporting the gang after.

4. Christmas Parkrun takeover - Saturday 17th December
