The first fixture in the 2024 Dublin Juvenile Cross Country League series took place in Newbridge Park, Donabate, last weekend. Almost 1000 young athletes from Athletics Ireland clubs all across the Dublin region took part. We were delighted to have 26 LSA athletes take part in the event, which was organised by Dublin Athletics, Lusk Athletics Club and LSA.
Thanks to coaches Dara Carr, Sarah Minto, Ben Dunne, Fiona Branigan, Emma Williamson and Mary Jennings who helped prepare our athletes for the event and supported them on the day. We had some fantastic results from our athletes with a number of top 20 finishes.
A huge thanks to Lusk AC members for all their work in organising, setting up and taking down the course. The start and finish areas for all the races was on the grassy tree-lined avenue near the Turvey Pedestrian area, which really captured the beauty of the park with Newbridge House as a backdrop.
We are also very grateful to Chairman Steven Rice and his team of LSA members who officiated at the car park - marshalling cars from 8.30 until 1.30. This event can only be run thanks to all the volunteers.
The next fixture in the League series will be on 20th October in Corkagh Park. More details closer to the time.
