Our Juveniles and Little Athletics training is back Thursdays at the All weather Hockey pitches.
Our 2015 and 2016 groups are currently full with waiting lists . As always, anyone looking for their child to join must contact club registrar Heather in advance of bringing child to training. Please email lambaysportsathletics@gmail.com.
We are currently seeking additional coaches for the 2016 group. If you can spare an hour on a Thursday 6-7pm Dara Carr would love to hear from you. Even if you can't commit every week, please get in touch as any help is greatly appreciated.
There have been a number of enquiries about stating a 2017 group. This age group will hopefully start in 2024 coaches and space permitting. Details will be circulated closer to the start date.

TRACK & FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
European U20 Championships - Jerusalem
13th place finish for Anna Gavigan in Jerusalem at the European U20 Championships!
It was a far cry from the wind and rain of Santry for Anna Gavigan who competed today in the European U20 Championships in Jerusalem.
The format was two qualifying groups with each competitor getting just three throws with the top 12 to go through to the final.
It was an intense competition ‘shootout’ and Anna with a best of 46.09m secured an excellent 5th place in her group finishing 13th place overall, agonisingly just outside a top 12 spot for the final.
13th in Jerusalem was an excellent round off to a great season in which Anna retained her All Ireland Schools Title, Leinster U20 Title, National U20 Title, won Silver in the National Senior Championships and set a new National U20 record in the process.
Well done Anna
National League Final - Tullamore 12/13 August 2023
LSA ladies had a great turnout for the National League Division 1 final in Tullamore.
With a minimum of 15 Track and Field events to be contested, it was a case of all hands on deck for the team, especially as we were missing a couple of our key athletes, namely Eabha O’Farrell for Hammer and Pole Vault, Anna Gavigan who picked up a niggle prior to her recent Jerusalem trip, Suzie Linkiewicz, our speedy sprinter recovering from a recent injury, Nicole Michael out with a back problem and the no availability of evergreen Dara Carr who is capable over all the sprint distances.
We were therefore delighted to welcome Cabinteely colleagues, Ella Carey for High Jump and Shot Putt and Sarah Doherty for 100 hurdles and 100 meters.
Events come thick and fast on the day from 10:30 to 5pm and here is a synopsis of how it went.
Up first was Ella Carey in the Shot Putt with an excellent 9.31m for 3rd place and 6 points with 3rd again in the High Jump at 1.50m and another 6points.
Sarah Doherty next on track for 100Hurdles was 2nd scoring 7 points.
Ellen Gavigan in the 1500 walk did 9:25mins for 4th place and 5 points.
Alison Branigan scores a 3rd in 400 hurdles in 1:28 for 6 points.
Ellen Gavigan Long Jumped 3.74m for 5th place and 4 points.
Now we regrouped for the first 100m really. The team of Ella Carey, Michelle Branigan, Sarah Dohery and Alison Branigan completed the lap in 56s seconds for 5th place and 4 points.
Iveta McDonnell lined up for the 1500m and finished 4th with 5:31 for 5 points.
Alison was out again for the 400m scoring 4 points with her 5th place in 1:17.
Louise Gilroy stepped in to Weight for Distance in the absence of injured Nicole Michael, scoring 2 points with a throw of 3.43m finishing 7th.
Sinead Farrell now took on the 3000m finishing in 11:17PB for 4th place and 5 points.
With Anna Gavigan injured, Alison was drafted in for Discus. After a quick training session from Anna, Alison threw 12.24m for 6th place and a valuable 3 points.
Ella Caray took on the 200m, finishing 6th in a speedy 28.07s scoring 3 points.
Michelle Branigan in Javelin landed a 17.67m for 6th place and 3 points.
Straight over to the 800m then for Michelle who covered the two laps in 2:52 for 5th place and 4 points.
All eyes now turned to the 2000m steeple chase with a focus on the water jump spills and thrills. Eimear Caulfield continued to impress at this discipline with an excellent 2nd place 7 points in 8.41.
Sarah Doherty then claimed 5th in the 100m in 13.7s for 4 points.
Finally!!! It was the 4x400 relay with Michelle Branigan, Sinead Farrell, Iveta McDonnell and Eimear Caulfield coming home in 6th place in 5:02 scoring 3 points.
When all was tallied LSA Ladies finished with 81 points for 5th place.
Now that we have established the team, we look forward to being even for competitive next year and maybe move up the ranks another spot to two.
Many thanks again to all the athletes who made themselves available for either Round 1 or the Final. Well done to all.
